If there is one lesson I learnt working in the corporate space, it is this: stay humble. The great English idiom puts it better: stoop to conquer; aim for the crown, but grow with the lackeys. However, one must note that there is difference between being humble and human worship.

Most managers can smell insecurity in a bloated display of humility. You cannot convince them otherwise after that. This is why you must stay true to yourself. Rabindranath Tagore captures it best in these words: “we come closest to the great when we are great in humility”.

Friend, keep your feet on the ground and your head in the clouds in how you work, in how you relate with leaders, and in how you relate with yourself. Cheers.
