As the popular saying goes: the devil is in the details. Being detailed is the easiest way to appeal to the curious minds of executives. As such capturing the not-so-obvious details of a report is very likely the juice leaders are looking for.

I have worked with a leader who mastered the art of asking the questions we never thought of; deep and wide until we began to see things the way she does. Before every meeting with her, we spend time trying to come up with likely questions around the strategy.

Six questioning patterns that help you see the details are: What else? How else? Who else? When else? Where else? Why else? These questions take your mind beyond answering the usual what, how, who, when, where and why. And there lies the details. Cheers.
