In your journey to be a great leader, friend, you must be decisive. Decisions must be made, and some are thoroughly inconvenient, and roundly ambitious.
In his book, The Burden of Command, J.B. Edwards described the mindset leaders must posses in other to remain effective as they assume an office. He went on to describe five “Burdens” leaders must concern themselves with. Self-awareness, Competence, Servanthood, Communication and Management. There is no mention of ill will.
In the 2007 movie, Freedom Writers, starring Hilary Swank as Erin Gruwell, the world learned the beautiful story of the Woodrow Wilson High School kids who turned their lives around by writing their stories; a story that is more about faith than of writing.
Thinking about Rev. Martin Luther King Jr, the first thing that jumps at you is the record of his courage. Not just the courage to march in protest in the Montgomery Bus Boycott, nor Birmingham Alabama, nor on the streets of Washington. But the full scale of courage–in thought, in speech, in action.
