During one of his epic Comedy Specials, #Dave #Chappelle shared a story about what his father told him. He said, “My father told me ‘Name your price in the beginning. If it ever gets more expensive than the price you name, get out of there.'” I find this thought very profound, especially in the daily effort to grow our career.
Friend, there are prices to be paid to get from one point to the other in your career, but you must name the price that is too expensive. If a company requires you to lie, indulge in bribery, prostitute and other unethical behaviours to grow, are you willing to do that? Where do you draw the line?
Knowing your price, helps you know when to quit. At what cost should you demonstrate commitment to your company? Your family? Your health? Your faith? You must know when to quit. Cheers.
