THE FAITH OF A LEADER

  • October 20, 2022

In the 2007 movie, Freedom Writers, starring Hilary Swank as Erin Gruwell, the world learned the beautiful story of the Woodrow Wilson High School kids who turned their lives around by writing their stories; a story that is more about faith than of writing.

You see, in this story, Erin Gruwell was handed an impossible class of at-risk students (Room 203) who were more concerned with gang affiliations than actual education; guns, drugs and everything in between. They believed that the education system was never designed to help them become anything in life.

When someone self-sabotages himself, there is little you can do, even if you care for them. The only explainable reason why Ms Gruwell stuck around with those kids, was nothing but unwavering faith.

In life, you find people who care for you, some who love you, but those who have undying faith in you? That’s hard to come by. Leaders like Ms. Gruwell, teach us to go beyond care; have some faith. Cheers.
